06 Sep DR MURPHY’S FOOD HALL
Dr. Murphy’s Food Hall is located inside of the recently renovated Cook County Hospital building.
With 11 diverse food stalls (many women and minority owned) Murphy’s is a great choice for a lunch time meetup or grabbing a quick bite. Dr. Murphy’s features an outdoor patio, full bar and a lounge area. On my trip to Dr. Murphy’s, I ordered dishes from Jarabe, a Mexican Restaurant, Fons, a vegan empanada shop, and Kathmandu MoMo Station, a Nepalese restaurant and honestly and everything that I had was delightful.
At Jarabe, I tried the fish and veggie tacos along with the guacamole. All of the dishes were very fresh and packed with flavor. The fish taco was fried to perfection and topped with red cabbage, pico de Gallo, and typically Mayo (but y’all know how I feel about Mayo) while the veggie taco featured summer squash, zucchini, corn, poblano, Mexican crema, and queso fresco. Jarabe’s tacos were literally some of the best I’ve had in the city. At Kathmandu MoMo Station, we tried the veggie egg rolls, chicken dumplings, and aloo chips. The egg rolls were fresh, hot, and flavorful and the aloo chips or fried potato balls, were perfectly fried to feature a crunchy outer layer and an inner soft potato filling.
